FRT Training for Occupational Therapists

FRT Training for Occupational Therapists

The March training day for the multi disciplinary team was attended by Occupational Therapists working with children and adults in different environments and in different authorities. There was a lot of interesting discussion and ideas about the many benefits that would be offered by learning the FRT routine and how it might be used within their own professional practice. Sharon Wignall, runs The Windsorian Occupational Therapy Practice in Windsor and offered the following feedback after returning home to put her new skills into practice.

“As a children’s Occupational Therapist I am often supporting children in school with ASD, ADHD or sensory problems. OT’s often use deep pressure in order to help a child regulate themselves better in order to engage better with a task. FRT has given me a simple yet effective framework to use at the start and end of my sessions in order to deliver this. Being underpinned by Reflexology, yet being simple to administer as a non-Reflexologist, means I can with confidence provide children with a structured relaxation technique that can help them engage with my Occupational Therapy more effectively.”

Functional Reflex Therapy says thank you to Sharon and looks forward to hearing updates on its use in her therapy sessions.
